Trip Description (Note)

  • These 3 day Omo Valley tours from Jinka are private. No other people will join you, you will have your own 4 x 4 SUV and guide. You can do this alone or together with your family or friends.
  • Please note that there are no daily flights to and from Jinka. On the following days of the week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday there are only 4 flights per week from Addis Ababa to Jinka (Jinka to Addis Ababa).

3 Day Omo Valley Tour Itinerary

Your driver and guide will meet you at Jinka (Bco) airport and continue a 130 km (2 hours) drive to Turmi town to visit the Hamar tribe. On the way you may visit Aari, Banna or Hamar tribal market on a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday). In the late afternoon, you will visit a remote Hamar tribal village for an authentic immersion experience with the Hamar people. You may also participate in tribal ceremonies such as the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony (optional) or the Evangadi Dance Ceremony (optional).

Accommodation: Paradise Lodge in Turmi

Depart for a 65 km (1 hour) drive to Karo Korcho village and meet the Kara people who live along the Omo River. You will have a genuine interaction with the Kara people who are famous for their intricate body and face painting. You can have your face and/or body painted in Kara style. Drive to Turmi for lunch, you can visit a tribal market on a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday). You may also attend a tribal ceremonial event such as the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony (optional) or the Evangadi Dance Ceremony (optional). Finally, drive 130 km (2 hours) to Jinka.

Overnight: Eco-Omo Lodge in Jinka (from newly built rooms)

Drive 50 km one way to meet the Mursi people and return to Jinka. The Mursi are a nomadic tribe who live on the land between the Mago and Omo National Parks. Mursi women wear lip plates on their lower lips. Finally, you will be dropped off at Jinka airport for your flight to Addis Ababa.
