Omo Valley Photography Tour Itinerary
After your 55-minute flight (if direct) you will visit Aba Jifar palace and Jimma Museum, walk around the city and enjoy the ancient city.
Overnight: Central Hotel Jimma
Drive 230 km from Jimma to Mizan Teferi via Bonga enjoying the beautiful nature, on the way you will explore Wushwush tea farms.
Overnight: Salayish Hotel
Drive 100km on an asphalt road to Dimma through the beautiful tropical canappys and stop in Dimma for lunch. Continue the 90km gravel road to Kibish. Until the team setup the camping, you will do photography by the Kibish River.
Overnight: Camping by the Kibish River
After having breakfast at the camp, you will head to a Suri village where you will find photogenic tribal paintings and large lip-plated women of the Suri / Surma tribe. Return to our campsite for lunch and a break, then head to another Suri / Surma village and do your photography.

After breakfast, drive 170km from Kibish to Hana town via the new road to Omo Kuraz sugar factories by getting permission from officials. After lunch in Hana town, set up your camp, and visit the Bodi tribe who are the masters of body scarification. The Bodi tribe is also known for a fattening competition (the Kell ceremony) where the fat man of the year will be selected after a three-month feeding of Blood and Milk. Finally, drive 50km from Hana town to Mursi village and experience life with the Mursi people. Like the Suri, the Mursi women also wear a lip plate inside a hole in the bottom lip. You will spend the night with the Mursi and do your photography with the tribe.
Overnight: Camping at a Mursi Village
You will do your photography during the best morning light then depart for a 180km drive to Turmi town. Visit a Hamar or Banna tribal market such as the Dimeka market, Turmi market, or Alduba market depending on the day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday). You may also visit the bull jumping ceremony (optional)You will have lunch in Jinka or Turmi and stay at Buska Lodge for the night. You will take a break from camping by staying in a nice lodge. In the afternoon, you may see the Bull Jumping Ceremony (optional) and a tribal market (optional) if available, or visit a Hamar village.
Overnight: Buska Lodge (the best in Turmi)
After breakfast, continue about 90 km to Karo Duss on an asphalt road with some 25km of off-road driving. In the afternoon you will get the best photos of the famous Kara tribe known for body and face paintings.
Overnight: Camping with the Karo tribe
Drive 60km to Kangaten town and explore the Nyangatom tribe then continue some 60km drive on a dirt road to Omo Rate town to meet with the Dassanech tribe. The Nyangatom tribe is one of the most colorful and list visited tribes on the Sudan and Kenya border. You will also discover the Dassanech people by driving 60 km from Kangaten to Omo Rate, then continuing to Turmi town.
Overnight: Buska Lodge
After breakfast, drive 290km to Arba Minch via Arbore and Konso. On the way, you will visit the Arbore tribe and a Konso village. You will also visit the Dorze People driving 1-hour drive after Arba Minch
Overnight: Hayle Resort
Drive 10 km to Arbaminch and do a short boat trip on Lake Chamo to see Crocodiles and Hippos. Head to Arba Minch airport to catch your flight to Addis Ababa saying goodbye to your Guide (Minalu) and your driver.
